La Gaude is located on a small peak in the middle of Mediterranean generous vegetation between Vence and Nice. In the past this village was agricultural and nowadays a pleasant residential village. The old castle of "Marquis de la Gaude", deserted and then fell in ruins at the Revolution, have been restored very recently by new owners. This impressive building (which is private) dominate the village however you cannot visit it.
Lanes of La Gaude

During your walk in the small cobbled lanes, you will discover beautiful frontages of restored houses. You will be fascinated by the charm and the Provencal atmosphere of the village, like was Marcel Pagnol the famous (and mythical) writer – film director who lived here for 30 years for the pride of its inhabitants.
